Once the largest building in the United States, Greystone Psychiatric Hospital built in 1876, housed a chapel, staff living quarters, wards for the patients, administrative offices, a post office, a farm, recreational spaces, a pond and more and has now been demolished.

People who have worked on the grounds have reported to feeling watched when on the premises and an urgent need to leave. Greystone also had several interconnecting tunnels that were used to go in between the many buildings on site and are known to be haunted.

There is even a movie, directed by Sean Stone, named Greystone Park (2012) that is based on the Asylum and the site itself was visited by the director. Here's the trailer for those of you who would like to visit the site from the comfort (and safety) of your living rooms.

The hospital finally shut down in 2002 for several accounts of sexual abuse on patients, patient suicides and even escapes. The buildings have now been demolished, despite the NJ historical society's attempts to reserve the site for other purposes. Beware, if you plan a haunted tour to leave this place off your list or to at least have a smart getaway plan. The site is heavily patrolled and steep fines are given to those caught wandering the grounds.
