Here is a list of my personal favorites:

Summary: This movie isn't exactly scary unless you have an intense fear of birds...but it was all the rage in the 1960's. It is worth a watch and can actually be pretty funny at times.

Summary: A newlywed couple move to Japan but as soon as they get there they accidentally hit a woman who appeared suddenly in the street. The wife begins to feel haunted and the girl appears in photos that the photographer husband takes.

36. Sinister

Director: Scott Derrickson

Summary: This movie is pretty scary if you watch it in the dark. Basically a murder/ mystery novel writer finds a box in his new house that contains the videos of a bunch of murders of families one of which occurs in his new home. He starts to see some scary shit in his house and tries to struggle with the fact that the supernatural might exist. Definitely worth a watch.

35. American Psycho

Summary: This movie is entertaining and has some great twists, actor Christian Bale makes a wonderful psychopath in this movie. I wont say too much so that I don't spoil the movie. Definitely not a scary movie but it is full of suspense.

34. The Tall Man

Summary: A desperate mother searches for her missing child in a town where there is an urban legend of "the tall man" who is blamed for the high rate of child abductions in the are. This movie left me guessing until the end, I love when I can't figure out where a movies going.

33. The Cabin in the Woods

Summary: 5 friends go away for the weekend to a cabin where fear comes to life but is not what is expected. This is a really fun movie, not too scary so if your looking for a movie to watch with your friends who aren't good with horror movies this is the one to show them.

Summary: This is a fun zombie movie full of comedy. It's a must watch if you are into zombie flics.

Summary: A renowned psychiatrist wakes up as a patient in the asylum where she works with no memory of what landed her there and to top it all off she is seeing ghosts. This movie has some awesome twists and is a fun watch.

Summary: A virus causing extreme violence and low impulse control spreads through a quarantined office letting the abused workers get a chance to take out some of their anger on the bosses. This movie is witty and enjoyable and worth a watch.

27. Patient Seven

Director: Danny Draven

Summary: A psychiatrist 7 patients for research, each patients story is crazier than the next. I did not expect the ending this movie had. Some of the cases shown are a bit ridiculous but nonetheless it is a great movie to watch.

26. Livide

Summary: A mysterious, once renowned dance academy with hidden treasure is too big a temptation for Julie and her friends. I found this movie to be really well done, the flash backs are nostalgic and tragic.

25. The Maid

Summary: Rosa a young girl from the Philippines moves in with a family in Singapore as a maid to send money back home for her ill brother. During the Chinese 7th moon Rosa begins to see ghosts as the gates of hell open. This movie is spectacular, I loved the story line and the twists and turns!

Summary: Will and his family move into their new home but something strange is going on and their neighbors are avoiding them. This movie keeps the twists coming and will make you wonder what's real and what's not.

22. The Red Shoes

Summary: A young woman walks in on her husband cheating on her so she moves away with her young daughter. One day she finds a pair of red pumps in the subway, and of course this chick feels the need to take home and wear these nasty used shoes she finds in the subway. It turns out these shoes are more than they seem and whoever sees them just HAS to have them. I love this movie, the acting is great, the story line is well developed and the theme is unique.

Summary: A newly divorced mother and her young daughter move into an apartment building that has a real leakage problem and to make matters worst one the children in the building is causing trouble.

20. Ju-on: The grudge

Summary: This movie is a classic and a much watch for any horror fans. Watch the original Japanese and not the USA remake (or both ha ha). A haunted house marks any person the crosses the threshold and finds you later on to destroy you.

19. Honey Moon

Summary: This movie is great and weird. A newly wed couple, Bea and Paul, celebrate their honeymoon in a remote cabin where strange lights appear at night and the Bea begins to act very bizarre.

Summary: A woman who lives alone with her two photosensitive children begins to suspect that something is not right within her home. I mean Nicole Kidman + horror movie= Win for me.

17. Insidious

Summary: I like this movie a lot and am a huge Lin Shaye fan. A families young son falls comatose one day for no apparent reason though it is apparent that something supernatural is happening. The family seeks out the help of a psychic to try and rescue their son.

16. Under The Shadow

Summary: Everything in this movie spells horror, from the war torn setting to the mysterious evil that haunts their apartment. A mother tries her best to protect her daughter. This is a great movie that deserves to be watched.

15. Jessabelle

Summary: Jessabelle is forced to return to her family home in Louisiana in order to recover from a terrible car accident that has left her in a wheelchair. She begins to experience paranormal activity that brings her clues about her families past. This movie was fun to watch and an interesting story line.

14. Ouija: Origin of Evil

Summary: A mother and her two daughters try to cope with the loss of the father. The mother trying to make ends meet performs seances and purchases a Ouija board to change things up. The Ouija wakes an evil spirit in the house that uses the youngest daughter to speak. This movie was very creepy the young Lulu Wilson does a great performance as the possessed little girl. I have to say I am happy that finally there is a decent USA movie about Ouijas.

13. The conjuring

Summary: A big family moves into a new house and shortly after the move the house itself seems to be attacking the family. The mother seeks out the help of a psychic woman and her husband to try and exorcise the ghost. I really like this movie I saw it in the theaters and from the moment that the name of the movie slowly moved onto the screen I was transported to a time where horror movies where still scary.

12. Rec

Summary: This movie is about a journalist in Spain that tails a group of firefighters for the night for a documentary. Once they arrive to an apartment building in distress from some kind of virus that is affecting the tenants of the building. Once inside the building they are all quarantined inside and they struggle to to find a way out as the virus transforms the tenants into violent zombie-like creatures. I love this movie and think that it is an original twist on the zombie/possession horror movies. Make sure to watch the Spanish version of this and not the USA remake (unless you watch both ha ha).

11. Housebound

Summary: A young woman is put under house arrest in her family home where she bumps heads with her mother constantly. After a short time home she suspects that her and her family are not the only tenants and that the house is not what it appears to be. This movie is a personal favorite it has so many twists your head will spin and you will spend most of the movie yelling at the TV screen. It is suspenseful, funny and even a little scary. This movie has a little bit of everything!

10. Reincarnation

Summary: A young actress is auditioning for a movie but has no idea that the role she is auditioning for is directly related to one of her past lives. This movie is a major Déjà vu .

9. Cello

Summary: A young cellist and her family are haunted after a car crash she lost a friend in. This movie shows what a mother will do to protect her family and her career.

8. Bushinsaba

Summary: A group of girls being bullied in school summon the power of Bushinsaba to help them exact revenge on the bullies but get more than they bargain for as they release a spirit that has a grudge against the entire town. This movie has a great story line is worth the subtitles!

7. Whispering Corridor

Summary: I love, love, love the whispering corridors movies! The are smart and always have a unique story line about high school students in South Korea and the authority figures that surround them.

6. Death Bell

2008

Summary: The death bell series is another great movie set that delves into the world of South Korean students and the intensity in which they are expected to study. I really like this theme and find that the movies are extremely creative.

5. A tale of 2 sisters

Summary: Two sisters move back home where their father has remarried a young beautiful woman. Something strange is going on inside the house. This movie is full of mystery and I love to re watch it over and over again. Each time I notice something new.

4. The Orphanage

2007

Director: J.A. Bayona

Summary: A woman and her family return to her past home to restore it into an orphanage for handicapped children. Her son begins to talk with a mysterious boy wearing a bag over his head and then one day goes missing.

Uno, dos, tres choca la madera! I love this movie, J.A. Bayona has made a masterpiece! Not only is this movie scary but the story line is very touching.

3. Silence of the Lambs

1991

Director: Jonathan Demme

Summary: A young FBI cadet is asked to help in a case where the FBI is forced to consult with and incarcerated cannibal, Hannibal Lecter. If you have not seen this movie yet, do it. This is a classic and is based off of real life serial killers. What more could you want from a movie?

2. The Shining

1980

Director: Stanley Kubrick

Summary: A family moves to an isolated hotel for the winter, snowed in from the rest of the world. The father who is caretaker for the winter begins to behave strangely and the hotels sinister past begins to come to light. It took me a long time to get to this movie but when I watched it I was amazed that I hadn't seen it yet. It is a spectacular movie, the music and camera work are great and the acting is spot on.
